Barn Find rumors are unlocked through Collection Journal Stamps. Progress Discover Japan first, then follow the rumor you receive; Treasure Cars use a separate photo-clue system.
Identify the kind of discovery
A Barn Find is a progression-linked discovery. If the message shows a photograph of an abandoned car, you may instead be following a Treasure Car clue. Keeping those two jobs separate prevents searching a rumor area for the wrong reward.
A practical search plan
Suggested approach: finish the exploration activities you enjoy, inspect your Journal rewards, and work on one active rumor at a time.
- Review your current Stamp progress and any newly available rumor.
- Note the area described by the game before starting a search.
- Explore systematically from visible roads into nearby compounds, keeping a note of places already checked.
- After a discovery, confirm the game has recorded it before leaving.
When a barn does not trigger
First compare the location with your own active rumor. A location seen in an old video is not evidence that your save has unlocked the same discovery. This guide covers the unlock mechanism; it does not provide a surveyed map of every barn.

Are Barn Finds and Treasure Cars interchangeable?
No. Use the rumor for a Barn Find and the photograph for a Treasure Car. A route for one system may not solve the other.
