Crossplay: Check Platform Access Before Playing Together

Quick answer

Forza Support confirms cross-play between PC and console versions. Cross-play is about multiplayer compatibility; it does not grant another storefront’s game license or transfer every paid add-on entitlement.

Separate three questions

Before arranging a group session, answer these separately: can each person launch the game, can you play together, and where is each person’s progress saved? The cross-save and Play Anywhere guides address the last question and licensing respectively.

Suggested group-session checks

Use an ordinary connection attempt as a diagnostic before blaming the car or event.

  1. Confirm everyone has access to the version they are trying to launch.
  2. Check that participants are running the current available update.
  3. Verify the account each player is using.
  4. Attempt a simple shared session before a restricted activity.
  5. If joining fails, record the exact message and the platforms involved for support.

Treat unreleased platform support carefully

The official FAQ still describes PlayStation 5 as coming later in 2026. Planned compatibility is not evidence that a PS5 build is already available today. Check the official release listing before scheduling that platform.

Frequently asked questions

Does cross-play mean I receive the Steam copy for free?

No. Multiplayer compatibility and a storefront purchase are separate. The support FAQ identifies Steam as a standalone product.
