EventLab: Build a Playable First Event

Quick answer

EventLab supports custom events and challenges in Japan. New tools include prop stamping, Free Drive testing, and movable start grids; start with a short route that players can understand without instructions.

Define a single player task

Before placing anything, choose what the player should do: finish a short circuit, reach a destination, or complete a challenge. Our suggested plan below is about making that task readable, not reproducing a particular creator’s event.

Suggested prototype plan

Build the smallest complete version of the idea, then improve it.

  1. Choose a start area with a clear route away from the grid.
  2. Place a short sequence of readable turns or obstacles.
  3. Test the intended vehicle width through the narrowest point.
  4. Use Free Drive to inspect difficult sections without confusing that check with a full event playthrough.
  5. Test the event from its actual start before adding decoration.

Review it as a first-time visitor

Ask whether the next destination is visible and whether a missed turn leaves a player confused. Decorations should help orientation. If a friend needs a long explanation before driving, simplify the route before sharing it.

Frequently asked questions

Is EventLab the same as changing an existing race’s settings?

No. EventLab is for a custom creation. Race Customizer adjusts a race that has already been completed; use it when the existing route is sufficient.
